The Republic of the Congo, as well acknowledge as Congo-Brazzaville (locally as Congo-Brazza), & Congo (however not to be mistook using the Democratic Democracy of the Congo, at one time Zaire, that was as well at one time acknowledge for the Democracy of the Congo), is a previous French settlement of west-central Africa.

Its borders are Gabon, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Democracy of the Congo, Angola & the Gulf of Guinea. On independency in 1960, the previous French area of Middle Congo became the Democracy of the Congo. A quarter century of Marxism existed deserted in 1990 & a democratically elective government established in 1992. A brief civil war in 1997 restored previous Marxist President Denis Sassou-Nguesso.

Congo is set in the central-western section of sub-Saharan Africa, straddling the Equator. To the south and east it is bordered by the Congo River & its affluent the Ubangi River, through which is the bigger Democratic Democracy of the Congo. It is likewise bordered by Gabon to the west, Cameroon and the central African Democracy to the north, & Cabinda (Angola) to the southwest. It has a brief Atlantic coast.

Its working capital, Brazzaville, is located on the Congo River,in the south of the country, at once across from Kinshasa, the working capital of the DR Congo.
