Congo is set in the central-western section of sub-Saharan Africa, straddling the Equator. To the south and east it is bordered by the Congo River & its affluent the Ubangi River, through which is the bigger Democratic Democracy of the Congo. It is likewise bordered by Gabon to the west, Cameroon and the central African Democracy to the north, & Cabinda (Angola) to the southwest. It has a brief Atlantic coast.

Its working capital, Brazzaville, is located on the Congo River,in the south of the country, at once across from Kinshasa, the working capital of the DR Congo.

The southwest of the country is a coastal plain for which the main drainage is the Kouilou-Niari River; the interior of the land consists of a primal plateau between two basins to the southland and north. Below is a map of the Republic of the Congo.
